About Me
My name is Gloria Bachand. I am 18 years old, and a senior here at Sport & Medical Sciences Academy. I have been going to this school for 5 years. While I was growing up I was very observant and I tend to find inspiration from the small things. I have always enjoyed learning new things even if I wasn't good at it. That's why when I observed the difficulty communicating with the hearing impaired at my job I took it as inspiration. One day I was guarding at my local YMCA and I saw these two men walk in, who happened to be deaf. I observed them as they were in the hot tub and in the pool and I saw they were speaking in sign language. This day happened to be the same day that there was a thunderstorm warning and I had no clue how I would let them know that they need to exit the pool area. The thunder never ended up coming but that moment made me want to learn sign language, it inspired me to get to know a new language and new culture so I can help and communicate with others. I was taught to respect others along with myself. I was always a pretty caring person and liked to help others

Mission Statement
My mission is to value my relationships with friends and family along with valuing my education. I plan to work hard and persevere through the hard times. After high school I will be attending University of Massachusetts - Lowell with a major of exercise sciences, so I can help others in my society. As of now I think I want to go into physical therapy, but that plan might change in the future. I plan to become successful through working hard, gaining happiness, and making enough money to support me and my family.
